LIFE ON SKIFF MOUNTAIN
As a small school, we all know each other well.
Your teachers know your story. Your peers are your biggest cheerleaders. The campus is yours to move through. Support is always accessible. Your dorm feels like home. This is what it means to be a Pterodactyl. Whether you’re joining a pickup game, leading a club meeting, celebrating a campus tradition, rehearsing a performance, or helping your team win a championship, opportunities to get involved are everywhere. Weekends include trips to the city, bonfire nights, or just hanging in the common room with friends. No matter what you choose, life on Skiff Mountain feels alive, connected, and yours for the taking.

YOU CAN BE YOU HERE
You’ll never feel boxed in at Marvelwood. Our students are encouraged to explore widely, participate fully, and define success on their own terms. The result is a community where individuality is celebrated, curiosity is rewarded, and students gain the confidence to pursue what genuinely excites them.
A PLACE TO JUMP IN
Let your inspiration lead the way.
There is no single way to be active at Marvelwood. You might spend one afternoon rehearsing with a band, another preparing for Envirothon, and yet another leading a student government initiative. The hardest part isn't finding something to do—it's deciding what to try first. Explore all the opportunities that await you here and let your inspiration lead the way.
A COMMUNITY DEFINED BY RELATIONSHIPS
At Marvelwood, everyone is welcomed, pretenses are left at the door, and kindness is king. Our diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and goals is what makes our community so rich and ripe for authentic connection.
Students and faculty get to know each other as human beings beyond classroom walls, and kids get to see each other as the multidimensional people they are. When students experience all sides of each other—and their teachers—walls come down and profound bonds are formed. These relationships shape their success in so many ways. They feel seen and respected, learn to connect and self-advocate, and become more secure, open-minded people.
A place to say “YES!”
Our culture of balance and acceptance makes it safe and easy to try new things. With 14 sports and over 40 clubs and leadership opportunities, you don’t have to choose between being an athlete or an artist, community service or chorus, rock band or rock climbing. Your experience is yours to design—and we’re here to cheer you on!
“The least involved Marvelwood student is more involved than an average high school student. It’s cool to do stuff here.”
- Marvelwood Junior
Your home away from home.
At Marvelwood, every student—whether day or boarding—has a room on campus, creating a shared sense of place that unites the entire community. It’s in these shared spaces that friendships are formed, differences are respected, and students learn to live with care and purpose. With faculty close by and community at the heart of daily life, students grow through connection, responsibility, and the rhythms of living and learning together.
