World Languages

Language, culture, and community

World Language instruction at Marvelwood is dynamic, immersive, and designed to spark curiosity about the wider world.

Through conversation, storytelling, music, film, food, and cultural exploration, students learn to communicate with confidence, grow in their understanding of global perspectives, and discover that language is an incredible conduit for connection.

Bringing culture to our community
Language study extends beyond vocabulary and grammar. Students explore geography, history, literature, and cultural traditions while engaging in activities such as cooking native dishes, attending performances, and participating in Heritage Night and Cultural Festival events. Feature films, songs, games, and storytelling make learning active and memorable.

Teaching to meet every learner
Our faculty bring flexibility, creativity, and energy to the classroom, using a variety of approaches—including TPRS storytelling, audiovisual media, and interactive activities—to make language learning accessible and engaging for all kinds of students. Lessons are designed to meet students where they are and help them build confidence step by step.

Exploring language through experience

Students deepen their understanding through museum visits, cross-curricular projects with the Art and History departments, cultural events on campus, and travel opportunities abroad. These experiences help students see language not as a requirement, but as a gateway to connection and understanding.
