Meet Our
Head of School

Blythe Everett P'14, '16 joined the Marvelwood faculty in 1990 as an English and French teacher, when the School was still located in Cornwall, Connecticut.

Over more than three decades, she has served in a range of administrative roles while remaining deeply connected to the classroom—an experience she still counts among her most meaningful at Marvelwood.

A four-time recipient of the Female Faculty Member of the Year award, Blythe is perhaps best known for her honors-level senior English course, long regarded as one of the school’s most challenging and rewarding academic experiences. Alumni consistently credit the class with preparing them for the rigor and expectations of college-level work. In June 2019, following a year as Interim Head, Blythe was appointed Marvelwood’s seventh Head of School.

Blythe's strategic plan and works

Strengthening programs and preparing students.

As Head of School, Blythe led the development of Marvelwood’s recent strategic plan and works closely with the Board of Trustees to strengthen programs that prepare students for the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly diverse and rapidly changing world. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College and earned her M.S.Ed. and secondary education teaching certification from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was inducted into the Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society.

Blythe and her husband, Mike—who retired in 2022 after a long career in Marvelwood’s math department—are proud parents of Marvelwood alumni Sam ’14 and Maggie ’16. Outside of school, Blythe enjoys Broadway musicals, “casual” birdwatching, and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles.

In her own words:

“At Marvelwood, we create, practice, and champion what we believe education should be, envisioning each student’s success in a place where belonging, purpose, and possibility live side by side. We focus on developing character as much as intellect so we can send ‘good people’ out into the world beyond Marvelwood.

I’m particularly proud to have had a hand in hiring the majority of the faculty and staff, whose daily efforts are characterized by unsurpassed commitment to the kids, their potential, their well-being, and their happiness.”

Board of Trustees

“It is an honor to serve on Marvelwood School’s Board of Trustees. As a board member, there is a sense of pride in giving your time, energy, and skill to a school that has given guidance, confidence, and knowledge to many young adults, and that ensures their future success.”

— Timothy K. Carpenter ‘71, Chair, Board of Trustees

Marvelwood’s Board of Trustees is composed primarily of alumni, current and former parents, and a few dedicated community members who know the school deeply and personally.

Many have served for years, guided not only by professional expertise but by firsthand experience of Marvelwood’s transformative impact on their own lives and families. Their stewardship reflects a lasting commitment to the school’s mission, and to ensuring that future generations of students experience the same growth, belonging, and opportunity.

Administrative Leadership

“At Marvelwood, every student is seen, heard, and valued for their authentic self, creating a culture of belonging where leadership’s primary goal is to transform individual potential into lasting confidence.”

— Heather Hunt, Assistant Head of School

Marvelwood’s administrative team provides the leadership, vision, and operational expertise that sustain the school’s mission each day.

Working closely with the Head of School, these leaders guide key areas of campus life—from academics and student support to operations, finance, and enrollment—ensuring that every part of the Marvelwood experience reflects the school’s values and priorities. Together, they help cultivate a learning environment where students feel empowered to thrive.
