Orton-Gillingham Training

Orton-Gillingham Associate Level II Training (In-person)
Marvelwood is offering teacher training for teachers interested in earning their associate-level certification through the Orton-Gillingham Academy.
Taught by an OGA Accredited Training Fellow
Prerequisites: Bachelor’s Degree

Dates: June 15 - June 26, 2026
Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (70 hours of coursework)
Tuition: $2,500 plus participants purchase approximately $100 in materials

This 70-hour course covers all the basic curricular components designed to transfer to 1:1 teaching.  The comprehensive training focuses on the multisensory principles of teaching and current research-based language instruction designed to integrate reading with spelling and writing. 

The curriculum includes the following topics:

  • Dyslexia and reading disorders
  • The rationale of the Orton-Gillingham Approach
  • Phonology and morphology
  • The motor component and the writing process
  • Vocabulary, reading comprehension, and fluency
  • Assessment and diagnostic-prescriptive teaching
  • The student profile, lesson plan, and teaching materials 
  • The academy structure and requirements
