George has spent a great deal of time throughout his life cultivating and creating visual artwork, comprising mostly paintings and drawings. He has worked within the field of youth service in urban settings, after-school programs, summer camps, and early childhood and adolescent educational settings. He has also spent time exploring religious community life within parish and monastic faith communities. George’s community experiences have reinforced to him the value of community service, an experience which began during his years at Marvelwood. When he was invited to join Marvelwood’s Board, it felt like “returning the favor.”
Besides serving his alma mater and his local community, George recently rediscovered the joy of tennis, a sport he hadn’t played since his time at Marvelwood!

After heading the global concentrate activities for Pechiney World Trade for 12 years, Jeff and his key traders executed a management buy-out into Ocean Partners Ltd., a firm trading copper, lead, zinc, gold and silver concentrate. Following his retirement from Ocean Partners in 2020, Jeff took up the position of CEO for Arianne Phosphate, a Quebec-based company looking to develop a world-class-sized phosphate deposit.
Jeff's youngest child graduated from Marvelwood in 2011. His time on the Board has been spent helping to develop and improve faculty housing in honor of the teachers and staff who did so much for his son, and for those who continue to work so hard on behalf of the students.
In his spare time, Jeff can usually be found on the ice; he coaches several ice hockey teams for kids of all ages each year, and still enjoys “lacing them up and playing ‘old timer’ hockey” with his friends.

Steven has a unique connection to Marvelwood School! He grew up in nearby Washington, CT, where his grandfather ran the Romford School for many years before becoming a US Congressman and selling the school to Rumsey Hall School in 1948. Rumsey Hall had been operating in Cornwall, CT since 1906; their main building was later used by Marvelwood after the school was established in Cornwall in 1956!
Steven moved into the world of banking “through the back door” after initially being hired to put his graduate degree in computer science to good use installing a PC network for Bank of Boston. On a weekend visit back home from Boston, he met his future wife and eventually relocated back to the local area, transferring to National Iron Bank, where he is now the president. Outside of work, he enjoys playing ice hockey, golf, and tennis.
Steven chose to join Marvelwood’s Board of Trustees because of the small, supportive nature of the school. He himself benefitted from tutorial support throughout his educational career, relying primarily on his talents as an ice hockey player to provide opportunity. He values Marvelwood’s focus on empowering all students to be aware of their strengths and develop confidence in their ability to open their own doors and achieve their goals – something he says he feels Marvelwood does better than other schools. Steven is proud of the fact that the school is always focused on improving and evolving: “I’m committed to supporting our unique educational approach and helping guide our strategic vision for the future.”

Most of Paul’s professional career has been spent working with teenagers. This has included stints at three independent schools, including six years as a teacher, coach, and Dean at Marvelwood from 1998 to 2004. His passion continues to be student affairs and helping young people manage the minefield that begins with adolescence. For the past 15 years, he has built a career in admissions, first in boarding school and now at the college level.
Paul chooses to serve on the Marvelwood Board because he deeply believes in the mission of the school. He appreciates being able to witness the "before and after" effect of what the school does for students and their families, and credits the dedication of the faculty and staff as “an inspiration.” In his free time, Paul loves to golf, spend time with family, spoil their dog, and “cheer in vain” for the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Sabres.

Peter truly enjoyed his time at Marvelwood and considers his Board service a great way to help spread the word about the meaningful things the school can do for students. After a difficult few years in middle school, Peter says he felt immediately welcomed and happy on campus. He quickly flourished, honing leadership skills as a tour guide and eventually winning the Bodkin Loyalty Cup for his commitment to the school’s values at his graduation in 1990. Among his favorite memories are contributing to weekly community service and when Marvelwood hosted the Round Square International Conference in 1987.
As a trustee, Peter appreciates the ways the school has stayed true to its mission while growing to provide a vast array of educational and extracurricular opportunities. He considers Marvelwood to be “a phenomenal school that teaches kids how to be self-sufficient and gives them so many ways to excel in pursuit of their educational and personal goals.”
Peter has worked for over 20 years as a File Manager and pseudo “jack of all trades” for a medical malpractice law firm headquartered in Manhattan. When he’s not working, Peter enjoys pickleball, golf, and spending time with his family.
