Marie Vedder

Learning Support

American University, B.A.

Roger Williams University School of Law, J.D.

Marie is at Marvelwood because she remembers her own struggles throughout high school and early college. She knows that each of our children has strengths and talents that are worthy of developing and celebrating, and she is keen to nurture those in each Marvelwood student.

Her personal and professional background is varied. She is a Kent School graduate and excited to return to the Housatonic Valley. After completing an Army deployment in Iraq, she graduated from American University and had her first foray into private secondary school education at Emma Willard School. From there, she spent time in government, healthcare, education, and not-for-profit work. Having children reminded her of the importance of education, prompting her to return to school to study education law.

But always, her goal has been to make the world a little better. For that reason, she is looking forward to supporting the school’s vibrant community service program, as well as working in our Strategies department. Although the last 14 years have been mostly about her own kids, Marie is excited to settle into a career working with other people’s children.

Marie lives with her partner, Math and Science teacher Timothy Kernan, their kids, a dog and 2 kitties in Summit Dorm.
