Welcome from the Head of School
High school shouldn't be about fitting in; it should be about standing out, finding your voice, and recognizing the strength and joy that come with being a treasured part of a community that celebrates each individual.
Our students benefit from small class sizes, personalized learning, and strong relationships with dedicated faculty mentors who encourage them to explore their interests and talents with curiosity and a sense of fun, discover new passions, and commit to their goals with confidence and purpose. The Marvelwood community plays a fundamental role in their development – fueling their growth while setting the stage for a lifetime of success.
Marvelwood is a school like no other – a place where belonging, purpose, and possibility live side by side. Every day, we create, practice, and champion what we believe education should be. Visit our stunning mountaintop campus and experience the energy, warmth, and pride of Marvelwood School.
Blythe Everett P'14, '16, Head of School"Marvelwood is all about family."
Blythe Everett P'14, '16 joined the Marvelwood faculty as an English and French teacher in 1990, when the School was located in Cornwall, CT. In her 35 years with the school, she has served in numerous administrative roles but still counts her days in the classroom among her fondest memories. Blythe was named Female Faculty Member of the Year four times; her honors-level senior English class developed a reputation as a challenging and demanding course that, according to countless alumni, more than prepared students for the rigors of college-level work. She was appointed Marvelwood’s seventh Head of School in June 2019 after serving one year as Interim Head.
As Head of School, Blythe spearheaded the school’s recent strategic plan exercise and continues to work closely with the Board of Trustees to focus on strengthening programmatic initiatives designed to help fully prepare our students for the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly diverse and rapidly-changing world.
Blythe graduated from Trinity College (CT) and earned her M.S.Ed. and a teaching certification in secondary education from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a member of the Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society. Her husband Mike retired in 2022 after a long tenure in the school’s math department; their children Sam ‘14 and Maggie ‘16 are proud Marvelwood alumni. Outside of school, Blythe enjoys Broadway musicals and “casual” birdwatching, and is an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
