TV Review: Shadow and Bone
By Ben Meyer '22
After my AP exam, I was looking for a TV show that was original and interesting. I came across Shadow and Bone on Netflix. After watching the preview, I knew immediately that this was a show that I wanted to watch. The story itself is perplexing and interesting. The acting is so good that you feel you are watching a real story. This is unquestionably one of the best Netflix shows that I have ever seen.
Shadow and Bone, a Netflix original drama, was released on April 23, 2021. Based on the book by Leigh Bardugo, Shadow and Bone is about a young, lonely orphan named Alina, played by Jessie Mei Li, who discovers a power that brings her to the magical elite of Ravka, the Grisha. With this power, Alina can close the “Shadow Fold,” a dark and impenetrable zone with monsters that feast on human flesh.
I highly recommend Shadow and Bone to anyone looking for entertainment that has to do with magic, drama, and heroism. I would rate this show a 10 out of a 10. This show feels new and original. If you have time, take a look at the trailer and check out the show!
