Learn Anything for Free!
By Ben Meyer '22
Over Spring Break, I came across a website known as edX. edX offers free courses from over 160 universities, including Harvard, Berkley, MIT, and the University of Michigan. Using edX, you can explore new interests and career opportunities with courses in computer science, biology, engineering, architecture, data science, and more. They are high-end video-based lectures that go into great detail about your interests.
On edX, I have been doing the Introduction to Computer Science course known as CS50 by Harvard. They keep you on your toes. They add amazing music, in the beginning, to get you into your mindset. At first, my course went in-depth on the fundamentals of Computer Science but then started to teach a couple of programming languages, including C and Python. The lectures are well-edited and understandable. They keep it interesting, enjoyable, and fun to be a part of. The best part is that you can work at your own pace. There are no deadlines.
If you have an interest in chemistry, computer science, or really anything, check out edX! I have explored hundreds of teaching sites, but I have found none that are like edX. Nowadays, it is true that you can learn anything for free. All you need is a phone or a computer that has internet access. So what are you waiting for? Go and learn about your interests and hobbies!
