Debate and Diplomacy at the Cornell Model United Nations Conference

Marvelwood is sending a delegation of 13 students to the Cornell Model United Nations Conference (CMUNC 2021).  The virtual event will take place over four days, April 15-18. This year, conference organizers have expanded the number of topics that normally formed the basis of the annual event. Assignments include international hypothetical scenarios as well as domestic political issues. The Marvelwood delegation will be representing various countries and organizations in a number of Specialized Committees and the General Assembly (see below). Faculty advisers Val Dumitrascu P'19 and Glenn Sanchez P'17, '19 have been working with the delegates to prepare for the conference. Both Mr. Dumistrascu and Mr. Sanchez have taken delegations to in-person conferences and are thrilled that students have the opportunity to participate in this dynamic conference.  In January 2020, Marvelwood participated in what was probably the last in-person model UN conference, the 46th annual Yale Model United Nations, until the worldwide pandemic is under control.  Read more about the delegation's experiences at the YMUN XLVI.
