Putting Math Skills to the Test

Every year, Marvelwood students have the opportunity to participate in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC).  Preparation for the competition works hand-in-hand with Marvelwood’s math curriculum; students are challenged to develop and improve their mathematical talents and analytical skills. This year, eight students participated in the AMC on February 10th.

The American Mathematics Competitions are a series of examinations and curriculum materials that build problem-solving skills and mathematical knowledge in middle and high school students.  Today, the competition has grown to over 300,000 students participating annually, in over 6,000 schools.  The AMC 10/12 provides an opportunity for high school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers and is the first in a series of competitions that eventually lead all the way to the International Mathematical Olympiad.  We are proud of our students who recently took part in the AMC 10/12!
