Family Weekend: October 16-17
Fall Family Weekend is your opportunity to meet your child's teachers and experience life on campus. Teacher conferences can be scheduled for Friday afternoon (1-4:30pm) or Saturday morning (9-11:30am) on ParentConnect. On Friday night, parents are invited to a reception at the Head of School's residence, followed by the annual Family Harvest Dinner in the Dining Hall. Music on the Mountain, Marvelwood's own open mic series, is after dinner. Come to perform or just to enjoy the entertainment. You never know who will take the MOTM stage! Please contact Mr. Bingham if you're interested in performing. For a complete weekend schedule and to register, please click HERE.
The Parents Association is looking for items to be sold at Music on the Mountain, to benefit Student Government, and to be distributed on the sidelines during Saturday's games: baked goods (cupcakes, cookies, etc), individual snack bags, small candy bars, and small water and juice bottles. Drop off is anytime on Friday in the Dining Hall. Please contact PA President Ann Street (203-458-7319) with any questions or suggestions.
Long Weekend break begins Saturday after athletic obligations. Students should be back on campus by 6pm on Tuesday, October 20th. Please fill out a Travel Form, even if you are transporting your child. For the long weekend breaks (fall and winter), students are asked to fill out the Student Departure Form. Please note that the school is open ONLY for students who cannot return home for the break. Early returns must be approved by the Dean's Office prior to a student returning to campus.

Ski Season is SOON!
Mohawk Mountain Ski Area, the largest in the State of Connecticut, is just up the road from Marvelwood. Notably, Mohawk is the birthplace of the snow gun, as well as the Burton Snowboard (by our esteemed alumni, Jake Burton Carpenter '72). 100% snowmaking and daily grooming ensure great conditions all winter long! Season rentals are available, and Mohawk offers lessons for all ability levels. Our program includes recreational skiing and snowboarding, as well as a Ski Team. Space is limited, however, so please submit the forms and payment asap. For more information, please contact Director of Athletics Zach Maizel '04.
Elections were held this week, and it was an all-female sweep for the top positions. Congratulations to Student Body President Maggie Everett '16, Vice President Jingjing Xu '16, and Senior Class Officers Hannah Bocker '16 and Erin Hussey '16. See all of the Student Government representatives HERE.
CLP Documentary Selected for Film Festival
Congratulations to the 2014-2015 Civic Life Project (CLP), whose film, To Protect and Profile, was selected for the All American High School Film Festival in New York City. With over 1000 entries from all over the world, Marvelwood's documentary is one of just 100 films and 15 documentaries being screened at the festival. Students who worked on the film will attend the festival next weekend and have the opportunity to interact with other filmmakers.

Forensics Students Visit University of New Haven
On September 28th, Mrs. Hunt's Forensic Science class took a trip to the University of New Haven to tour the Dr. Henry C. Lee Forensic Science Institute. Students learned about various methods that Dr. Lee has used to solve some very famous cases, and toured the classrooms where mock crimes are setup and processed by UNH students. The group was thrilled and honored meet Dr. Lee!
