In October 2007, Mrs. Anne C. "Nancy” Wood, sister of Marvelwood's founder and first Headmaster Robert Bodkin, established a charitable foundation to benefit the School. The foundation, named "The Nancy and Andrew Wood Charitable Foundation,” was funded with an initial sum of $1,000,000. The foundation will distribute funds on an ongoing basis for the purpose of providing financial assistance to needy and deserving Marvelwood students. In honor of Mrs. Wood's late brother and his wife, Cornelia, grants of financial assistance to these Marvelwood students are called the "Robert and Cornelia Bodkin Memorial Scholarships.” Students receiving such financial assistance will be designated as "Bodkin Scholars.”
The third-annual Bodkin Scholarship was awarded on graduation day 2010 to rising senior Josiah Bates (right). Josiah will receive a full scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year.
