On Wednesday, February 17th the Marvelwood JV
Basketball team played its final home game of the season against The Woodhall
School.The game ended up coming
down to the final seconds before we finally prevailed by the score of 45 to
44.After trailing for most of the
game, our team finally took the lead with around 4 minutes to play. With a 2 point lead and 8 seconds to
play, TJ Jacobs ‘10 was fouled and went
to the line.As cool as the other
side of the pillow, TJ drained both foul shots giving us the all important 4
point lead.Woodhall’s top scorer
stepped over half court and drained the impossible 3 point shot with 3 seconds
to play.Fortunately we were able
to inbound the ball before being fouled with 1 second to play.We missed the front end of the
one-and-one, but Woodhall was unable to score on their ¾ court last shot. Both teams played great as we were able
to eek out our 5th victory of the season.
Although we fouled the other team way too often, everyone on
the team played well today.Qigao
Wang ’11 was dominant in the paint with 11
points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists, and 2 blocked shots.Bowen Luo ’10 sparked our offense with 7 points and 2 assists.Kao-Ting Hsu ’12 also played tough in the post with 10 points and 8
rebounds. Zian Xu ’10 played
well both inside and on the perimeter with 2 points, 4 rebounds and a steal. TJ Jacobs ’10 scored 5 points (including the game wining free
throws), grabbed 5 rebounds, and had a nice assist.Tyler Knowles ’10 played another solid game down low with 4 points and 4 rebounds.Chris Oliveri ’10 played tough defense and ripped down 4 rebounds.Zidong Liu ’10 scored 4 points and played tough defense. The team is now 5-6 with one game left
