On Wednesday January 27th the Boys JV Basketball team hosted NYMA and posted a 60-27 victory.  In front of our home fans the team played its best game of the season.  Our aggressive defense created turnovers and allowed us to jump out to an 18-2 lead early.  One of the keys to our victory was strong rebounding by the entire team.  The team is now 2-5 overall but on a 2 game win streak.  Our next game is on the road Saturday against Wooster who we hope to avenge our first game of the season loss to.

The victory was a team effort with everyone playing well.  Kao-Ting Hsu ‘12 led the team with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 steal.  Kevin Bogucki ’11 scored 11 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, had 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.  Qigao Wang ’11 had another solid game in the paint with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocked shots and a steal.  Our guards also played extremely well this game.  Bowen Luo ’10 scored 8 points, had a season high 7 steals, grabbed 3 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists.  TJ Jacobs ‘10 also dropped in 8 points, distributed the ball well with 5 assists and had a steal.  Zidong Liu ’10 pushed the tempo at the point and had 5 points, 2 assists, and 1 rebound.  Zian Xu ’10 played his best all-around game of the season with 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.  One of these assists was a behind the back no-look dime to Kao-Ting for a restaurant quality SportsCenter top 10 highlight!  Also playing well today was Tyler Knowles ‘10 who scored 3 points, pulled down 5 rebounds, and had a nice blocked shot.  Chris Oliveri ‘10 also played his best game of the season scoring 6 points and pulling down 2 rebounds while playing tenacious defense.  Wei Cui ’10 returned to the team this week and played tough defense while recording 2 steals, 2 rebounds, and 1 beautiful assist for an easy lay up.  Chih-Hsiang Ko ’11 deserves a coach’s award for the hard work and the hustle he put forth in this game.  Although he did not score, he grabbed 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and dished out 1 assist.  He played great defense and hit the floor on every loose ball.  The team is playing hard, having fun, and looking forward to our next game. - Coach Mason
