5/10 Chase Collegiate 6, Forman 5
Great game for the spectator today as Chase Collegiate beat Forman 6-5 for the Western New England Division III Championship. Chase went out ahead during the first half 3-1 but Forman came back to tie things up 5-5 during the 3rd period. Then with 1:15 left in the game, George Miller scored the 6th goal for Chase to secure the win. Miller had 3 goals for the day and was the obvious player of the game. Kudos to both Goalies - D'Amato (Forman) and ? (Chase) for many saves. Chase is 8-0 in Division 3 and Forman 5-2. - Coach Perkins (Forman)
5/7 Darrow 11, Harvey 7
Darrow faced off against a very talented Harvey team in New Lebanon today. In a game full of penalties from both teams, Darrow led after each quarter (5-4, 6-4, 8-6, 11-7). Defensemen Bo Montanye, Sid Dunn, and Adam Claxton limited Harvey's talented offensive unit to 7 goals with help from goalie Graham Forster, who made 19 saves. Midfielders David Walker, Shawn Leary, Tyler Fairweather and Maurice Crawford played well defensively with Crawford and Fairweather assisting on goals. Derek Montanye (2/2), Eric Darrow (3/2), Seth Hamilton (3/1), and Roy Sayewitz (3/3) paced Darrow's attack. Sorenson (3/1), Edelstien (2/2), Gins (2/1), and Lavin (0/2) had strong games for Harvey. - Coach Cooke (Darrow)
5/7 NYMA 15, Marvelwood 5
5/7 Forman 8, Wooster 4
Another close and exciting game. Forman went out to a 3-0 lead but Wooster came back and tied it at 3-3 in the 3rd. In many ways, Wooster deserved the win - out ground balling us and out shooting us, but D'Amato made 14 saves, many of them key. Also, strong defense by Steward, Lewis, McLean & Baumer held Wooster's attack to 1 goal. Record 6-2 (6-1 Division III) - Coach Perkins (Forman)
5/7 Chase 21, Kildonan 1
5/6 Harvey 11, Master 10 (OT)
The Cavaliers faced off against the Master's CT squad at home, winning 11-10 and rising to 7-4 on the season. Master's made the long trip down to Harvey and played a great game against the Cavalier quad. Harvey got a bunch of quick goals in the first quarter from a multitude of sources including all three starting attackmen: Pete Sorenson, Justin Edelstein and Erik Gins as well as freshman middie Nick Durst. The first quarter ended with a 5-1 Harvey lead. Master's fought back throughout the rest of the game despite strong performances from all of the Cavalier longsticks and Sophomore keeper Shane Handler and pushed the game into a 10-10 tie at the end of regulation. Just over thirty seconds into the sudden-death overtime, midfielder captain Sam Lavin found his captain cohort Justin Edelstein who found the back of the cage and a clutch overtime win for Harvey. Leading scorers include Justin Edelstein (5 goals, 1 assist), Peter Sorenson (1 goal, 4 assists), Erik Gins (3 goals). - Coach Hill (Harvey)
5/6 Chase 12, NYMA 6
5/3 Wooster 9, Harvey 5
The Cavaliers traveled to nearby Danbury to face off against the Wooster Generals, losing 9-5 and falling to 6-4 on the season. Harvey held tight with Wooster during the first half with goals by attackmen Peter Sorenson and freshman midfielder Nick Durst as well as strong defense by Jake Warshaw, Spencer Wiesner and Greg Hennings. The first half ended with Harvey down 3-2. Unfortunately, the Cavaliers failed to keep the game within reach by giving up four goals in the 3rd quarter while not finding the back of the cage on offense. Harvey's final push in the forth with three goals was too little too late as the Cav's ended up falling 9-5. Leading scorers include Peter Sorenson (2 goals, 1 assist), Nick Durst (1 goal, 2 assists) and Erik Gins (2 assists). - Coach Hill (Harvey)
